Post: Akwa Utd Players Urged on Discipline, Hard Work for Promotion

Geneva: The Akwa United Football Club has urged players to maintain hard work, so as to conquer the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2025/2026 and enter next season’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Chairman of Akwa United FC, Joseph Eno, gave the charge on Wednesday, during a media chat in Uyo.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Akwa United FC currently tops the conference B table with 19 points, having played 9 matches, lost 2, drawn 1, and won 6. Eno attributed the team’s performance to determination and discipline both on and off the field. He emphasized that with the mandate given to the club by Governor Umo Eno to move to the NPFL, the team must remain focused and resilient to actualize that mandate.

Eno stated that with skilful and tactical players, the team is poised to get back on the NPFL table next season. ‘We are equally very big on discipline; that’s why we decided from the onset that all players must live in camp; camp rules are strictly enforced; defaulters are promptly and decisively
punished. As you know, discipline breeds professionalism, the very reason we are well rated in terms of discipline and professionalism in the league,’ he said.

Eno also highlighted the management’s commitment to the welfare of players and staff, ensuring that payment of salaries, match bonuses, and allowances were paid without delay. ‘That is why you have not heard of anything like players on strike, due to nonpayment of salaries, match bonuses, or allowances. I can promise that you will never hear of such under my watch; not this season, not any other season while I am in charge,’ he assured.

He further promised that the club would continue to work hard to maintain team spirit and secure promotion to the NPFL. ‘As we look forward to the second and final stanza of the league, we ask for more support, especially from our teeming fans and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State. The task ahead is onerous; it may be difficult, but I know we have what it takes to get it done and we shall get the job done,’ he said
.

Eno expressed gratitude to the state government and the club’s partner, Ibom Air, for the numerous support given to the club since the season began. NAN recalls that Akwa United had lost its position in the NPFL last season, following poor performance.
