Abuja: The Anambra Government has joined forces with Flutterwave, a payments technology company, to enhance the state’s digital economy, focusing on scaling e-commerce activities and strengthening digital payment systems. Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in a statement released to newsmen, emphasized that this partnership aims to expand market access for businesses across Anambra.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Governor Soludo described the collaboration as a strategic initiative to formalize and grow Anambra’s burgeoning e-commerce ecosystem. The initiative is designed to create new opportunities for traders, artisans, and small business owners by connecting local enterprises to broader national and international markets.
The governor highlighted that the partnership would facilitate seamless transactions and boost digital participation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating in commercial hubs such as Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka. Flutterwave, under the leadership of Co-founder and CEO Gbenga Agboola, has established itself as a significant fintech innovator, building payment infrastructure utilized across continents and enhancing Africa’s role in global digital commerce.
Governor Soludo further explained that the collaboration aims to empower individuals to transact, grow, and compete on a global scale. The initiative will focus on digitizing payment systems for small businesses, integrating logistics with payment platforms, and onboarding more traders onto online marketplaces to enhance efficiency and market reach.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure for young entrepreneurs, stating, “Anambra government is laying the foundation so our youths can build and scale their ideas without barriers.” The governor also extended an invitation to the Anambra diaspora to explore the state’s expanding digital opportunities and invest in its growing technology-driven economy.
With this latest collaboration, Anambra is positioning itself as a key digital commerce hub in Nigeria, leveraging innovation to connect local businesses to international markets “one transaction at a time.”
