Post: APC Candidate Wins Zamfara Supplementary Election

Zamfara: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sa’idu Kamilu, as the winner of the Kauran Namoda South State Assembly Constituency election in Zamfara.

According to Voice of Nigeria, the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Lawal Sa’ad, announced the results after the collation of the supplementary election outcome and harmonisation with previous results. The APC candidate received 8,182 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lawal Muhammad, obtained 5,543 votes.

‘Having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes, I declare Hon. Sa’idu Kamilu of the APC the winner and therefore returned elected,’ Professor Sa’ad stated.

The by-election held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, was initially declared inconclusive due to the margin of differences between the leading political party, APC, which scored 7,001 votes, and the first runner, the PDP, which scored 5,339 votes. The margin was less than the total number of PVCs collected in the registration areas where the election was cancelled, necessitating a supplementary election.

The supplementary election was subsequently held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, resulting in the emergence of the winner.

The by-election was conducted following the death of the former representative, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji, who was elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and passed away on April 9.
