Lagos: The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly Primary Election across several Lagos constituencies concluded peacefully, with candidates committing to grassroots development initiatives should they secure victory in the general elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the primaries witnessed significant voter turnouts in constituencies such as Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 1, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency II, Ajegunle, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, and Somolu Constituency I. Voters patiently waited for hours to endorse candidates they trusted to lead their communities effectively.
In Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 1, Mr. Oluwa Sabur emerged victorious, promising to enhance community development. Sabur highlighted the overwhelming support he received, attributing it to the trust and confidence party members and residents have in his leadership. He pledged to work harder for the constituency, focusing on improved representation and community development.
Mr. Olalekan Akindipe, Chairman of the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, praised the unity among residents in supporting Sabur’s re-election, advising him to attract more developmental projects to the area. Stakeholder Mr. Walad Edore encouraged supporters to rally behind Sabur in future elections, expressing confidence in his ability to provide quality representation.
In Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency II, Ajegunle, the election was conducted seamlessly at the Local Authority Primary School compound. Voters supported incumbent Mr. Akanbi Oluwa, with no visible opposition presence. Similarly, in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Hon. Ladi Ajomale received overwhelming support, praised for his infrastructural projects and empowerment initiatives.
Alh. Mudashiru Oladele, APC Ajao Estate Ward G Chairman, commended Ajomale’s achievements in road interlocking, youth employment, and community projects. Former Vice Chairman Mr. Chidiebere Pius emphasized the need for Ajomale to continue his work in education, sanitation, and healthcare.
Mrs. Kafayat Gbadamosi, Chairperson of the electoral committee, confirmed the transparency of the process, commending party members for their cooperation. Ejigbo LCDA’s past and present chairmen endorsed Hon. Oladipo Ajomale for the Lagos State House of Assembly, reflecting his positive performance and representation.
In Somolu Constituency I, the primary elections were peaceful, with security ensuring order. Despite the calm proceedings, Mrs. Kafilat Afolabi, former party Publicity Secretary, raised concerns about potential favoritism and called for improved internal democracy. Mr. Sikiru Bamidele echoed similar sentiments, suggesting greater grassroots participation and transparency.
Ward Chairman Mr. Rasheed Lawal urged members to remain united and learn from the exercise to enhance future primaries, emphasizing the importance of representation and dialogue within the party.
