Awka: The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional timetable for the 2026 Anambra State Local Government primary elections. The announcement was made in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, indicating that the timetable aligns with APGA’s constitution and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) schedule.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the party has outlined that the sale and return of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will occur at its Awka Regional Secretariat from January 27 to February 6. The screening process for both chairmanship and councillorship aspirants is scheduled to take place from February 7 to February 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
The schedule specifies that any appeals from the screening exercise will be addressed on February 13, with Ward congresses set to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates on February 14. The chairmanship primary election is slated for February 15, with any appeals arising from the primaries to be resolved on February 16, all in Awka.
APGA has set the cost of chairmanship forms at N6 million and councillorship forms at N600,000, with a 50 percent fee reduction for female aspirants and persons with disabilities. The party emphasized that all payments are non-refundable and noted that the dates remain subject to change. It also urged aspiring candidates to adhere strictly to the stipulated guidelines and its electoral regulations.
