Benin: The Nigerian Army has recently decorated five senior officers with new ranks, emphasizing the need for them to justify their promotion through enhanced discipline, loyalty, and service delivery. This announcement was made by the brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Capt. Kennedy Anyanwu, in a statement shared with the News Agency of Nigeria.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the ceremony, which took place in Benin, saw the commander, Balogun, urging the newly promoted officers to recognize their advancement as a transition to greater responsibilities. He highlighted that the promotion is not just a reward but an indication of the expectations from the Army Council and the Chief of Army Staff. Balogun encouraged the officers to lead by example, mentor their subordinates, and contribute to the operational effectiveness of the army.
The commander further emphasized that the officers’ conduct would significantly influence both their unit’s performance and the public image of the army. He also acknowledged the crucial role of the families in the officers’ careers, noting that their support was vital to the achievement being celebrated. ‘The journey to this rank was not walked alone. The sacrifices and support from your families have been invaluable,’ he remarked.
In response, Lt.-Col. David Omoregie, speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, expressed gratitude to the army leadership for the promotion and assured a renewed commitment to addressing security challenges. Other officers who were decorated include Lt.-Col. Magnus Nwafor, Lt.-Col. Umaru Mohammed Tomsu, Lt.-Col. Monday Terkuma Nwali, and Lt.-Col. Suleimam Kawu Alkali.
