Lagos: The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) is preparing to host a stakeholder forum aimed at engaging contractors, consultants, service providers, and key stakeholders within Nigeria’s public procurement ecosystem. This initiative is part of the bureau’s commitment to enhancing the procurement process in the country.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the forum is being organized with the assistance of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE). Zira Nagga, Head of Press and Public Relations at BPP, emphasized that this training is one of several mandatory capacity-building programs designed for public sector procurement officers, in accordance with Federal Government Extant Circulars.
Nagga announced that the meeting is set to take place on February 26 at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 10:00 a.m. The forum’s primary focus will be the Methodology for Assessing Procurement Systems (MAPS) framework and its significance in reinforcing public procurement processes within Nigeria.
The key objectives of the meeting include facilitating dialogue among contractors, consultants, service providers, and civil society organizations regarding the MAPS framework and its advantages for Nigeria’s procurement system. Additionally, the forum will provide a platform for stakeholders to offer feedback and input on the development of a National Procurement Strategy.
Nagga also mentioned that the meeting aims to align Nigeria’s procurement reform agenda with the contributions of every stakeholder, ensuring its successful implementation.
