Abuja: Bishop David Abioye, Founder of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, has urged Christians to cultivate a consistent and fervent prayer life to overcome life’s challenges. Abioye made this known while speaking as a guest minister at a Solemn Assembly Prayer Conference in Abuja. The event was jointly organised by the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) block, FCT Chapter.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abioye, in his paper entitled ‘Prevailing Through Prayers’, described persistent prayer as essential for triumphing over oppositions confronting individuals, families, churches, and the nation. He emphasized that “prayer is a platform for prevailing in life,” adding that there are life challenges that can only be addressed through prayer. Abioye underscored the importance of knowing how to pray to prevail over life’s adversities.
Drawing from the Scriptures, Abioye cautioned against spiritual lukewarmness, noting that prayerlessness leads to spiritual exhaustion and failure. He referred to Philippians 4:6, emphasizing that prayer is not optional but a necessity, stating, “A prayerless believer is a lifeless believer.” He further explained that a prayerful life protects believers against fainting, failing, and falling, likening prayer to breathing for spiritual life.
Abioye urged Church leaders to prioritize genuine divine power over human eloquence, performance, or intellectualism. He challenged them to protect their calling against commercialisation, reminding them that spiritual authority is forged in purity and secret fellowship with God.
Also speaking at the event, Pastor Matthew Akande, General Evangelist, CAC Medaiyese Region, Abuja, highlighted prayer as an essential mechanism for spiritual battles. Akande noted that both sinners and saints face daily spiritual battles, encouraging Christians to remain steadfast and persistent in prayer until answers manifest. He urged believers to return to the core spiritual foundations of earnest intercession and faith to reclaim their authority.
