Abuja: Rev. Tom Takpatore, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Garki, Abuja, has urged Nigerians to embrace thanksgiving as a daily lifestyle, stating that gratitude to God remains essential despite the challenges faced by the nation. Takpatore addressed this message during the church’s Mid-Year Thanksgiving Service, where congregants reflected on God’s faithfulness during the first half of 2026 and offered prayers for the country’s future.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Takpatore emphasized that thanksgiving should not be limited to times of abundance but should be a daily practice for those who recognize God’s goodness. He remarked, “Thanksgiving is something that anyone who thinks deeply should do and have as a daily habit. At some point, it is good to pause and count your blessings.”
The service also featured Mr. Augustine Beguwa, Chairman of the Men’s Missionary Union, who encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, asserting that the nation’s current challenges would eventually lead to better days. He stressed the importance of appreciating God’s faithfulness, even amid economic hardships, and urged citizens to continue trusting in a brighter future for Nigeria.
Mr. Bassey Offiong, Chairman of the Diaconate, described the thanksgiving service as an opportunity for believers to pause and appreciate God’s faithfulness while anticipating a more promising future for the nation. He conveyed a message of hope, reassuring Nigerians that “better days are ahead.”
Mrs. Adenike Takpatore, the pastor’s wife, highlighted the importance of gratitude in daily life, particularly for the gift of life itself. She shared her perspective on witnessing people facing illnesses and hardships, yet recognizing God’s preservation over many.
Additionally, Mrs. Abiola Ojo, Leader of the Women Missionary Union, emphasized the role of families in shaping a successful nation. She urged mothers to raise their children with strong moral and spiritual values, noting that many societal challenges originate from the home. She called for a return to the foundational values passed on by previous generations.
