Post: COAS Welfare Flight Facilitates Movement of 332 Military Personnel

Abuja: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) welfare flight has successfully airlifted 332 military personnel in and out of the North-East theatre as part of the ongoing routine troop rotation and welfare support. This operation underscores the commitment to maintaining troop morale and operational efficiency.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the operational report highlighted that the first welfare flight for June transported 174 personnel into the Operation Hadin Kai theatre, while 158 personnel were moved out without any incident. The movement was executed using a chartered ValueJet aircraft, ensuring a smooth and safe transition for the troops.

The military emphasized the importance of the welfare flight as a critical initiative designed to enhance troop morale and operational capabilities. The report revealed that since the inception of the welfare flight programme, a cumulative total of 33,097 personnel have been transported into and out of the theatre, underscoring its significance in troop welfare.

The Chief of Army Staff welfare flight programme was established to boost troop welfare, morale, and operational efficiency in active theatres, with a particular focus on the North-East region. The initiative offers regular airlift support for personnel rotation, significantly reducing the stress associated with long-distance ground travel through high-risk routes.

Furthermore, the programme ensures the timely deployment and redeployment of troops while supporting command logistics across the theatre of operations. Since it began, the programme has facilitated the movement of tens of thousands of personnel, enhancing manpower management and sustaining operational readiness.

Military authorities regard the programme as a key welfare and force sustainment mechanism within the ongoing counter-insurgency operations, highlighting its role in supporting the overall mission objectives in the region.
