Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that the political path for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is entirely unobstructed, dismissing opposition parties as fragmented entities incapable of forming a significant coalition.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike addressed reporters after inspecting projects in Abuja, where he ridiculed the internal conflicts within opposition camps. He highlighted that recent public admissions by key opposition figures support his long-held belief that their structures are fundamentally compromised.
Wike further dismissed the existence of any genuine coalition, mocking rival political groups that positioned themselves as alternatives to the ruling government and promised change for Nigerians. He remarked that these groups have lost sight of their objectives, citing recent statements from Babachir Lawal about internal manipulation and ‘rigging machines’ within the opposition as evidence of a collapsed alliance.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, recently left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over allegations of rigged primary elections favoring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Wike responded by asserting that seasoned politicians recognized from the beginning that the opposition’s framework was biased towards Abubakar, rendering any fair coalition improbable.
Wike argued that criticisms emanating from within the opposition indicate significant issues in their so-called mushroom political parties. He reassured supporters of the current administration that there is no need to worry about a united opposition front in the upcoming general election cycle, affirming confidence in President Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
