Post: Consensus Leadership: APC Executives Emerge in 20 Lagos LGAs

Lagos: The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward and Local Government Area Congress Committee for Lagos State announced on Saturday that party leaders across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) emerged through a consensus arrangement.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Karounwi Oladapo, alongside other members from the APC National Secretariat, disclosed this development at the conclusion of the exercise in Lagos. Speaking with journalists at the congress venue in Kosofe, after overseeing the exercise in various council areas including Ojo and Surulere, Oladapo confirmed that the congresses were conducted following the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.

Oladapo expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state. He praised the local organizing committee for their efforts, noting that the structure in place simplified the process. The Screening Committee and Congress Monitoring Committee sent from the APC National Secretariat were also commended for adhering to party guidelines and regulations.

The Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, also commended the committee’s efforts and the peaceful conduct of party leaders during the congress. He stressed the importance of unity and togetherness for the future success of the party in upcoming elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that delegates in multiple LGAs affirmed the election of party executives through consensus, with similar consensus processes applied across remaining LGAs to elect party leaders for the upcoming term. Security agencies were present to maintain order, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise.

Local APC leaders, including the immediate past Chairman of Agege LGA, Mr. Ganiyu Egunjobi, and APC chieftains such as Mr. Samuel Ogunmusi and Mr. Tunde Rufai, praised the peaceful nature of the congresses and expressed optimism for the party’s future success.
