Abuja: The Ambassador of Czech Republic to Nigeria, Tomáš Výprachtický, has announced his country’s commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Nigeria in various economic sub-sectors. Výprachtický made this pledge during a dinner event organized to inaugurate the Nigeria-Central Europe Chamber of Commerce (NCECC) in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the event was organized by NCECC in collaboration with the Regional Trade Institute (RTI) and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria. Výprachtický highlighted the long-standing political and economic relationship between Nigeria and the Czech Republic, noting the presence of Czech companies, corporations, and institutions in Nigeria. He emphasized the potential for mutual cooperation, citing Nigeria’s natural and human resources, as well as its engineering and technological capabilities.
The President of NCECC, Dr. Paschal Onyemaechi, spoke on the organization’s efforts since its registration in August 2025 to strengthen ties between Nig
eria and the Czech Republic. He explained that NCECC operates in over five countries with a mandate to enhance Europe-Africa relations by leveraging Europe’s technology and technical expertise and Africa’s natural resources and vibrant economic market.
Onyemaechi outlined NCECC’s role in promoting bilateral trade, encouraging investment, and providing up-to-date market information. He also mentioned plans for educational mobility, technology transfer, and creating platforms for business and policy interactions. Additionally, the organization aims to establish the New Partnership for Development of Africa (NEPDA) project to further its objectives.
A key feature of the event was the induction of Honorary Council Members of the Chamber by Prof. Andrew Haruna, Pro-Chancellor of Bingham University and Vice-President of the Nigerian Academy of Letters. Inductees included Dr. Rislan Kanya and Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, notable figures in data analytics and electricity distribution, respectively.
