Kogi: Dangote Cement Plc, through its Obajana Plant, has inaugurated two security outposts in Iwaa and Apata communities as part of its commitment to enhancing security and reinforcing effective community policing in its host areas.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Obajana Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Azad Nawabuddin, emphasized that the projects were part of the company’s dedication to community development and strengthening security in its host and impacted communities. Nawabuddin highlighted that although Iwaa is geographically distant from the plant, the community is a priority for the company, ensuring that development initiatives and security measures reach beyond immediate vicinities.
Nawabuddin further noted that security is a fundamental element for growth and sustainable development, stating that communities lacking security are deprived of meaningful progress. He remarked that the new security infrastructure represents a significant milestone in safeguarding lives and property, while also enhancing the relationship between the communities and Dangote Cement Plc.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Olu of Apata, Oba Fredrick Balogun, expressed gratitude to the company for providing the structures and other amenities to the Apata community, acknowledging that they benefit from the Dangote Security support. He praised Alhaji Aliko Dangote as kind-hearted and beneficial to his people.
The Elesho of Iwaa, Obafemi Alaofin, also expressed appreciation for what he termed a ‘demonstration of love’ from Dangote Cement Plc. He affirmed the community’s gratitude for the new security facility and pledged unreserved loyalty to the Plant Director and the company, acknowledging the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with Dangote Cement.
Prince Adeyemi Ademola, the General Manager of Social Performance, stated that a needs assessment conducted in 2024 identified security infrastructure as a top priority in both Apata and Iwaa communities. In response, Dangote Cement Plc initiated and completed the security post projects, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable community development through ongoing engagement and priority-driven interventions.
Rotimi Kekereowo, a Youth Leader from Iwaa Community, appreciated the company and called for continued collaboration for community development.
