Asaba: Delta Head of Service, Dr. Mininim Oseji, has distributed tomato and pepper seedlings to Permanent Secretaries and staff in key government offices. The initiative seeks to promote homestead farming among civil servants.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the scheme aims to boost food security, encourage agriculture, and supplement the income of civil servants in the state. Dr. Oseji stated that the effort would enable civil servants to contribute to the state’s food production and reduce dependence on external sources. ‘This initiative is designed to promote self-sufficiency and sustainability in food production while providing additional income for civil servants,’ she explained.
Oseji further noted that the program would foster a culture of self-reliance among employees, empowering them to grow their own food. She mentioned that the initiative aligns with Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori’s ‘MORE Agenda’, which focuses on economic growth and sustainability.
Responding to the initiative, the Permanent Secretary in the Head of Service’s office, Mr. Maxwell Ause, commended the effort. He assured that the scheme would motivate civil servants to embrace agriculture.
