Cape Town: Dorman Long Engineering has been confirmed as a Silver Partner for the African Energy Week (AEW) 2025, reinforcing its role as one of Nigeria’s prominent engineering firms and a significant advocate of technology transfer and local workforce development.
According to African Press Organization, the company took a pivotal step in March by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Society of Engineers. This agreement aims to enhance professional development and training through structured programs for student members and a one-year graduate scheme that offers stipends to improve employability and bridge industry skills gaps.
At AEW 2024, Dorman Long Engineering achieved a significant milestone by securing a $10-million revolving trade finance facility from the pan-African finance institution Afreximbank. The facility, aimed at expanding operations and service delivery, was signed by Peter Olowononi, Head of Client Relations for Anglophone West Africa, Afreximbank, and Dr. Timi Austen-Peters, Chairman of Dorman Long Engineering.
By integrating infrastructure investment with targeted skills development, Dorman Long Engineering is contributing to the creation of a more resilient, self-reliant, and globally competitive engineering sector. Their initiatives illustrate how strategic partnerships and local content efforts can foster sustained economic and industrial growth, as stated by Tomás Gerbasio, VP of Commercial and Strategic Engagement at the African Energy Chamber.
