Umuezeala-aba: Mrs. Queen Duruibe, candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Okigwe South Federal Constituency, says she will offer service-driven representation without making empty campaign promises. Duruibe stated this on Friday while addressing newsmen shortly after unveiling her campaign office at Umuezeala-Aba branch, Ehime Mbabo Local Government Area of Imo. She stressed that her focus remained solving the constituency’s lingering socio-economic problems through active legislative engagement.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the House of Representatives candidate urged voters to hold her accountable through effective advocacy at the Green Chamber rather than reliance on political pledges. ‘I have no campaign promises. I actually have my people at heart and I have come to serve them to make sure that their problems are my problems,’ Duruibe said. She emphasised her commitment to serving the constituency directly, adding that her primary goal was ensuring all local challenges were systematically resolved.
‘I don’t want to make promises of doing this or doing that. I am running for the House of Representatives to serve my people through my voice,’ she said. Duruibe, a Petroleum Engineering graduate from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), declared that the NDC possesses the capacity to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. She asserted that the party boasts of quality candidates, an organic grassroots base, and robust laws capable of changing the fortunes of the country.
According to her, the constituency remains severely stagnated by bad roads, poor educational infrastructure, rising insecurity, high unemployment, and struggling market women. She cautioned voters against vote-buying, advising them to resist temporary financial inducements that perpetuate long-term hardship and infrastructural neglect. ‘If you collect bribery of N5,000 or a bag of rice which will finish in a week, remember we will have another four years of stagnation and suffering,’ she warned.
The candidate urged voters to stand firm and foster love and unity to move Okigwe South forward. ‘With NDC, a new Nigeria is possible and a new Okigwe South is possible,’ she added. Also speaking, the Okigwe Zonal Chairman of the NDC, Chief Emmanuel Nkemjika, expressed total confidence in the competence and capacity of the candidate. Nkemjika called on party supporters across the zone to unite and work collectively toward securing a decisive victory at the 2027 general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that hundreds of party faithful had defied the rains to receive the candidate in a grand reception at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport before moving to the constituency. She later received royal blessings from two traditional rulers; Eze Chukwubueze Iwunze of Nsu community and Eze Peter Opara of Umunumo community both in Ehime Mbano LGA of the state.
