Post: Ebonyi APC Welcomes Defectors from PDP Amidst Political Realignment

Abakaliki: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, located in South-East Nigeria, has recently welcomed a wave of new members who have defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This development marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the state.

According to Voice of Nigeria, the announcement was made by the State APC Chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoroemegha, during an event held at his office in the state capital, Abakaliki. Mr. Okoroemegha emphasized the importance of unity and inclusivity, stating that the purpose of incorporating former PDP members was to leverage their experience and dedication to support the current administration’s agenda, known as the People’s Charter of Needs.

Mr. Okoroemegha further revealed that key political figures would soon be joining the APC. He mentioned that by the 28th of this month, Mr. Nkemkama Kama, the Member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, is expected to switch allegiance to the APC. Additionally, in December, more
politicians, including Mr. Idu Igariwey from Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, are anticipated to join the party’s ranks. The State Chairman attributed these ongoing defections to the positive impact of Governor Nwifuru’s administration on the citizens.

The new members, spearheaded by former State Commissioner for Finance, Barrister Timothy Odah, made a grand entrance at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki. They were accompanied by a large number of supporters who expressed their enthusiasm for the party through solidarity songs, signaling a robust show of support for the APC’s growing influence in Ebonyi State.
