Abuja: Mr. Chuks Akamadu, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Entertainment and Economic Roundtable, has announced that the upcoming roundtable event is specifically designed to develop strategies for accelerating Nigeria’s economic diversification, which is seen as a crucial pathway to enhancing national security.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Akamadu highlighted in a statement that the 3rd roundtable, scheduled to be held in Abuja on April 14, 2026, will feature significant contributions from Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), as well as select ministers and other political office holders. The theme for this year’s event, ‘Harnessing Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries for Rapid Economic Diversification and National Security,’ underscores the vital role these sectors play in fostering inclusive growth, creating jobs, and ensuring social stability.
Akamadu emphasized that the involvement of SGF Sen. George Akume, alongside governors and ministers like Gen. Christopher Musa and Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, illustrates the Federal Government’s dedication to repositioning tourism and the creative economy as integral components of national development. Akume’s participation is poised to strengthen inter-ministerial collaboration and policy alignment to integrate these sectors into Nigeria’s broader economic framework.
The event will also spotlight the participation of Gen. Christopher Musa, the Honourable Minister of Defence, highlighting the increasing connection between culture, economic empowerment, and national security. The high-level roundtable will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, investors, members of the diplomatic community, and key stakeholders from the tourism, culture, and creative sectors to discuss strategies for achieving economic diversification.
Akamadu noted that discussions will focus on how cultural identity, youth engagement in creative industries, and tourism development can enhance social cohesion and contribute to long-term security outcomes. The Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, will serve as the Official Host Minister, with the event also featuring interventions by select governors. A significant moment of the roundtable will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
