Post: Enugu LG Election: APC Flags Off Campaign in Isi-Uzo, Vows Victory

Enugu: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State on Tuesday flagged off its campaign for the September 26 Local Government elections in the state, promising a decisive victory. The campaign, held at Isi-Uzo Council’s secretariat, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from communities across the council area.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, presented the party’s flags to the chairmanship candidate, Chief Brendan Ani, and the 11 councillorship candidates contesting the election from the Council Area. The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has fixed September 26 for the conduct of elections for Chairmen and Councillors in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing Chairman of Isi-Uzo Council Area, Mr. Obiora Obeagu, stated that the party was well prepared for the election, citing the turnout and support from residents as evidence of its popularity. Obeagu highlighted the administration of Gov. Peter Mbah, which executed several projects in the area, including roads, smart schools, and healthcare facilities, contributing to economic development and improving residents’ lives.

Obeagu dismissed allegations by opposition parties that APC members were involved in disrupting their meetings, stating that such claims were unestablished. He suggested that individuals might trigger crises and subsequently accuse political opponents of responsibility.

Dr. Chukwunweike urged Isi-Uzo residents to vote for APC candidates in the election and support the party in the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the party’s preparation and its efforts to mobilize voters from the grassroots level. He also addressed allegations of attacks or meeting disruptions, attributing some disputes to internal matters within opposition parties.

Mrs. Oby Ajih, the APC South-East Zonal Woman Leader, encouraged the people of Isi-Uzo to vote en masse for APC candidates, describing the party as having the mandate of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Mbah. She urged supporters to ensure victory for the party across all positions.

Chief Brendan Ani, the APC chairmanship candidate in Isi-Uzo, expressed appreciation to Gov. Mbah for significant development in Isi-Uzo, including roads, smart schools, and Type-2 hospitals. He commended the governor for uniting the party in the council area, predicting that this unity would lead to electoral victory. Ani called on residents to continue supporting the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming council election.
