Abuja: Ethiopian Airlines says it will be adding extra flights to Abuja from October 28. This move boosts a tourism component known as Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, MICE, in the Nigerian capital, which is beginning to become an important destination for such events.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines, Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, announced that there will be three extra weekly flights added to the daily flights already operating out of Abuja. She explained that the extra flights will be scheduled in the evening, while the daily flight will continue to operate at midday.
Mrs. Mekonnen highlighted that these additional flights will provide passengers from Abuja with increased options, offering immediate connections to many African and Asian destinations. This expansion is expected to reduce the total flight time for passengers. Besides more flight options, the extra flights come with benefits such as increased baggage allowance and double miles for loyal passengers.
The increased baggage allowance applies to travelers headed to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai. The new evening flights are scheduled to depart Abuja at 10 PM (ET 957) and arrive in Addis Ababa at 5 AM, enabling connections to various African destinations, as well as destinations like Dubai, Sao Paulo, and Tel Aviv.
Ethiopian Airlines aims to reward its loyal customers and improve service delivery while reducing travel costs. The extra flights will facilitate faster arrivals at destinations and enhance the travel experience for passengers. Ethiopian Airlines has been serving Nigeria since 1960, connecting Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, and Kano to over 150 global destinations with its modern fleet, including the A350-1000 and B787 Dreamliner.
