Post: Ex-Nigeria Olympic Committee Accountant Honored with Gwong Traditional Title in Kaduna


Kagoma: Dr Jonathan Dyagas, a former Accountant of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Njet Gwong’ by the Gwong Traditional Council in the South of Kaduna State. The prestigious title, which translates to the shining star of Gwong, was officially bestowed upon him by Kpop Gwong, the paramount ruler of the Gwong Chiefdom, Paul Wyom.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the turbaning ceremony took place at Wyom’s Palace in Kagoma, where the ruler highlighted Dyagas’ significant contributions to the development of Gwongland as the reason for the honor. Wyom expressed the hope that Dyagas would treat the title as a call to further serve the people of Gwongland and the wider community. He emphasized the responsibility accompanying the title, expressing the community’s desire to see Dyagas’ influence grow in sports and other fields.



In his acceptance speech, Dyagas expressed gratitude to the Gwong traditional institution for the recognition. He acknowledged the significance of the title, associating it with concepts of light, clarity, hope, and responsibility. Dyagas committed to actively contributing to Gwongland’s growth and pledged to uphold the expectations tied to his new role.



He dedicated the honor to his late mother, attributing his recognition to her enduring prayers, sacrifices, and values. Dyagas promised to fulfill his duties, inspired by the legacy she left behind.
