Post: INEC Declares APC’s Ishaku as Winner of Bwari Chairmanship Election

Bwari: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr. Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressive Congress (APC) the winner of the Bwari Area Council Chairmanship election. Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, the Returning Officer for the election, announced that Ishaku secured a total of 18,466 votes, thus emerging victorious.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Prof. Nurudeen confirmed the results during the announcement made on Sunday in Bwari. He stated, “I am the returning officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council, Bwari chairmanship held on Feb. 21, 2026. That Joshua Ishaku, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”

In the election, the candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered a total of 4,254 votes, while the candidate from the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) received 3,515 votes, securing second and third places, respectively.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the chairmanship election was held across 10 wards in the council, which include Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari Central, and Kawu.
