Lagos: Mr. Taofik Adegbite, Chief Executive Officer of Marine Platforms Ltd., emphasizes the importance of strengthening indigenous technical capacity and expanding local participation in offshore operations to drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s energy sector. Adegbite made these remarks in a statement as the indigenous offshore engineering and subsea services firm celebrated its 25th anniversary in Lagos on Monday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adegbite stated that the company is committed to investing in technical capability and service delivery to support Nigeria’s offshore energy ecosystem. He highlighted that building strong local capacity is crucial for Nigeria to manage complex offshore projects and retain more value within the energy industry.
“While the 25-year milestone offers an opportunity for reflection, our focus remains firmly on the future. We will continue to strengthen our operational capabilities, expand technical capacity, and deliver sustainable value to our clients and stakeholders,” Adegbite said. He noted that the company’s long-term strategy is anchored on safety, client-centric service delivery, integrity, teamwork, and quality, along with a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles.
Marine Platforms, initially founded as a local offshore services provider, has evolved into a subsea engineering and offshore construction company, offering services to major energy operators in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. Adegbite attributed part of the company’s growth to the local content policy framework and the support of institutions such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd., Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
A significant milestone in the company’s expansion was its investment in subsea assets, including 13 work-class remotely operated vehicles and a fleet of specialized offshore vessels. These include African Vision, African Inspiration, African Concept, African Pioneer, and African-China Global 1200, a deepwater heavy-lift and pipelay vessel. Adegbite explained that these assets have enhanced the company’s capability to execute engineering, procurement, construction, and installation projects in both deepwater and shallow-water environments.
Marine Platforms also offers subsea services such as remotely operated vehicle operations, inspection, repair, and maintenance, as well as the transportation and installation of subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines.
