Post: FEC Approves Construction of Gboko Airstrip to Bolster Security and Emergency Operations


The federal executive council:entral region. Mr Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development disclosed this on Monday while briefing State House correspondents, after the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the contract was awarded to CCECC Nigeria Ltd. at a cost of N34.4 billion. Keyamo emphasized the strategic significance of Gboko due to its agricultural importance and the growing security concerns in the area. He stated that Gboko serves as a vital hub for agricultural activities around the Middle Belt and for security agencies addressing challenges in that region.



Keyamo highlighted that the airstrip would provide an operational base for security agencies responding to emerging threats in the area. Security agencies have been in need of airstrips and operational bases to effectively confront security challenges in the region.



In addition to enhancing security operations, the minister mentioned that the facility would support humanitarian operations and emergency medical services. It will also serve as a base for humanitarian activities, humanitarian services, and medical emergency services. Keyamo concluded by stating that the project reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing security and development challenges through critical infrastructure.
