Abuja: The Federal Government will invest over N21 billion in the first phase of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced this at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new NAMA corporate headquarters.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the contractor, MESSRS NHD Interbiz Projects Ltd., is expected to complete the phase within 30 months. Keyamo emphasized the importance of adhering to the highest standards of quality and timelines as stipulated in the agreement. “The contract is valued at N21.68 billion, inclusive of all taxes, with a completion period of 30 months,” he stated.
Keyamo noted that the project is a deliberate action under Executive Order 12. He explained that the groundbreaking is part of a broader initiative to modernize the infrastructure supporting the safety, efficiency, and growth of Nigerian aviation. The minister highlighted that agencies under the ministry had been operating in outdated structures for too long.
With the new headquarters, NAMA aims to consolidate its administrative and operational functions into a modern, purpose-built facility, providing a conducive environment for innovation and collaboration. The headquarters will also feature a state-of-the-art Air Traffic Management Centre to enhance efficiency, safety oversight, and real-time operational responsiveness.
The project is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to create jobs, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the security of national assets. Keyamo emphasized that the project complied with the Public Procurement Act 2007 after a transparent and competitive tender process. He praised NAMA’s management for their diligence in structuring the agreement, ensuring proper procurement, clear deliverables, and defined performance obligations.
NAMA Managing Director, Mr. Ahmed Farouk, also spoke at the event, describing aviation as an interdependent ecosystem that requires strong partnerships. He urged the contractor, NHD Interbiz Project Ltd., to deliver excellence and timely completion.
