Abuja: The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has signed a 2026 performance contract and adopted a communiqué aimed at accelerating industrial growth, trade expansion, and promoting investment.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the communiqué was issued by Mrs. Augustina Obilor-Duru, Head of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, following the conclusion of the ministry’s 2026 two-day Management Retreat. The communiqué reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to accountability and economic transformation through a strategic performance contract and implementation roadmap for 2026. This contract involves all agencies and directors under the ministry.
The retreat convened senior management officials, agency heads, development partners, and other stakeholders under the theme, ‘From Policy to Performance: Driving Industrial Growth, Trade Expansion and Investment Outcomes’. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, emphasized the retreat as a platform for strategic reflection an
d collaboration, commending participants for their dedication and contributions. She reiterated the ministry’s central role in economic transformation, job creation, and improving livelihoods for Nigerians.
Dr. Oduwole highlighted that the performance contract underscores a commitment to accountability, results-oriented governance, and the implementation of priority programs. She stressed the importance of stronger coordination and collaboration to translate government policies into tangible economic outcomes.
Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Enoh, associated industrial success with productivity growth and the strengthening of local industries. He emphasized that sustainable export growth and improved investor confidence are key to supporting the country’s industrial agenda.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Chris Isokpunwu, encouraged participants to align programs and budgets with national priorities, highlighting the critical role of accountability, monitoring, and continuous performance
improvement in achieving desired results.
Mrs. Iya Gamawa, Director of Policy, Planning, Research and Statistics of the ministry, pointed out the significance of strategic alignment. She stated that effective performance management and results-based implementation are essential for meeting the ministry’s objectives.
Development partners, including UNIDO, pledged their support for the ministry’s reform agenda and industrial transformation efforts. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to attracting investments, expanding exports, creating jobs, and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda.
