Abuja: Wisewisdom Charity Foundation has distributed school bags and other learning materials to 100 pupils of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, City Gate, Durumi II, Abuja. The items were distributed on Thursday during an outreach event tagged, ‘Building Tomorrow Today: One Bag, One Child’.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the event was spearheaded by the foundation’s convenor, Dr. Peter Olumuji, who emphasized the initiative’s aim to equip less privileged children with essential academic tools. This effort is intended to boost their confidence and address educational inequalities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Dr. Olumuji, along with members of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, stressed that equipping young minds has a direct transformative impact on their lives, fostering a sense of belonging.
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (quality education), Goal 10 (reduced inequalities), and Goal 17 (partnerships for the goals). Dr. Olumuji highlighted that providing essential learning materials is an effective strategy to support underserved communities and nurture future leaders.
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Director of the Department of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, FCT Administration, emphasized the importance of supporting children from low-income backgrounds to ensure equitable access to quality basic education. Mrs. Ukachi Adebayo, Head of Enforcement at the FCT Social Development Secretariat, praised the foundation’s community impact and pledged ongoing support.
Mrs. Helen Adejare, the Head Mistress of the school, expressed her gratitude for the donated materials and encouraged other Nigerians and corporate entities to replicate such gestures.
