Damaturu: The Federal University Gashua in Yobe has announced the invention of a 2000W capacity solar-powered generator, marking a significant step in sustainable energy solutions.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made in a statement by the University’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Alh. Adamu Saleh. The solar generator was developed by the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO) within the university. Key specifications of the device include a battery capacity of 75Amps, a charge controller of 20Amps, a panel of 200W, and a load capacity of 450W.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, shared the news during a sensitisation and awareness campaign regarding IPTTO’s activities. In her address, delivered by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Mohammed Yakubu, Waziri described this invention as a milestone that could play a crucial role in advancing the institution’s technological capabilities. The IPTTO team was commended for their innovation and dedication, which is seen as an achievement not only for the university but also for the state and the nation.
