Post: Group Urges APC Stalwarts to Resolve Kano Crisis

Abuja: The World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to urgently address the ongoing crisis concerning the Kano Central Senatorial District flag bearership. Dr. Emmanuel Daudu, the organisation’s Head of Politics and Peace Desk, made this appeal during a news conference held in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Daudu described the unrest in the district as a situation that could potentially disrupt the peace, unity, and political stability within the APC. He emphasized that excluding and denying aspirants from fair political participation could lead to increased tension and dissatisfaction among the party’s supporters. Highlighting the principles of democracy, Daudu stressed the importance of inclusiveness, justice, and fairness.

The crisis reportedly escalated in parts of the Kano Central Senatorial District following the exclusion of Abdussalam Zaura as the APC flag bearer, which has resulted in heightened tension and reports of loss of lives. Zaura is known as a philanthropist, businessman, and humanitarian whose efforts in community development, youth empowerment, and economic support have had a positive impact on many lives. Daudu underscored Zaura’s suitability to represent the interests and aspirations of the people, citing his longstanding commitment to humanitarian service and grassroots development.

Daudu noted Zaura’s notable humanitarian initiatives, which include distributing more than 200 vehicles and over 1,000 motorcycles to youths, and supporting the installation of over 150 electricity transformers in communities. These measures have improved power supply and stimulated economic activities in the state. Additionally, Zaura has organized vocational and skills acquisition programs for youths and women, contributing significantly to poverty reduction, economic inclusion, and sustainable grassroots development.

Daudu warned that the failure of the party stalwarts to intervene could threaten the unity and stability of the party and undermine societal harmony and human sustainability. The organisation expressed deep concern over the development, reiterating that democracy cannot thrive without peace, justice, and stability.

The group’s head urged President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders to step in and resolve the crisis to restore peace, confidence, and order within the Kano Central Senatorial District. He also appealed to the President to consider appointing Zaura to a federal position as a strategic step toward restoring confidence and achieving lasting peace in the area. Daudu commended Zaura for his continued loyalty to the APC and his support for President Tinubu’s administration despite the political challenges.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Zaura was an aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial District party primary elections, but his name was removed from the APC flag bearership list.
