Lagos: Gtext Holdings, a global real estate and technology conglomerate, has appointed former Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, as its new Chairman. This announcement was made by the company’s Deputy Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Farouq Usman, in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Usman stated that the founder of Gtext Holdings, Dr. Stephen Akintayo, stepped down from his role as Chairman on Wednesday. This transition allows Akintayo to concentrate on new ventures, specifically SACI Holdings, a private equity firm. Usman highlighted the strategic timing of Mr. Okiro’s appointment, noting his previous experience as a board member and his leadership qualities, which align with the company’s vision of entering a new phase of visibility.
Usman further acknowledged Dr. Akintayo’s contributions to Gtext Holdings, particularly in spearheading its international expansion into Texas, United States, with ambitious plans to develop a prope
rty portfolio worth 200 million dollars. Okiro, in his acceptance message, expressed gratitude to the board for their trust and emphasized his commitment to maintaining leadership excellence.
Okiro lauded Akintayo’s visionary role in transforming lives and economies throughout Africa, describing him as “a beacon of dreams.” As the 13th Inspector-General of Police, Okiro aims to focus on sustainable growth, operational efficiency, innovation, strategic expansion, and community engagement in his new role with Gtext Holdings.
