Tanzania: Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles concluded their CHAN 2024 journey with a 2-0 victory over Congo, netting goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi. Entering the final group stage match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, the Eagles aimed to salvage some pride following consecutive defeats to Senegal and Sudan that had already sealed their elimination.
According to Voice of Nigeria, despite dominating the first half, Nigeria was unable to capitalize on their chances, keeping the scoreline goalless at halftime. The breakthrough occurred shortly after the second half began, as NPFL top scorer Yusuf found the back of the net to give Nigeria the lead. Sikiru Alimi later secured the win by doubling the advantage.
With this result, Nigeria ended the tournament in third place in their group, amassing three points, while Congo concluded at the bottom with two points.
