Abuja: Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), has denied reports suggesting he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He clarified that he was merely invited by the commission, countering claims that circulated in the media.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abdullahi made this clarification in a statement issued in Abuja, emphasizing his compliance with due process and respect for constituted authorities. The statement, signed by his Media Aide, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Danjuma, urged the public to avoid speculation and misinformation, which could distort facts and prejudice ongoing investigations.
Abdullahi called for patience, advising the public to trust relevant agencies to conduct their duties through lawful and transparent means. He stressed that his attendance at the EFCC was voluntary and in line with his commitment to transparency and accountability as a public servant.
He appealed to supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and law-abiding, highlighting that the current allegations are still under investigation and subject to legal processes. Abdullahi reiterated the importance of allowing the facts to emerge without unnecessary tension or sensational commentary.
