Abuja: The Chief Imam of Force Headquarters Mosque, Alhassan Yakub has praised the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for their initiative to distribute food items to police families during the month of Ramadan. Yakub expressed his appreciation during the distribution event held in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of such support during the holy month.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Imam highlighted in his sermon the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual, economic, social, and moral reflection. He recognized the PCRC as an integral part of the Nigeria Police Force family, noting their consistent support during the fasting period. Yakub underscored Ramadan as a month of blessings and unity, bringing people together to care for one another and pray for national peace and progress.
Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, also addressed the gathering, encouraging both Muslims and non-Muslims to remain law-abiding during Ramadan. He described the period as an opportunity for introspection and spiritual renewal. Disu commended the PCRC for their longstanding support to the police force, expressing gratitude for their dedication and service.
PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, explained that distributing food items during Ramadan and Christmas is a well-established tradition within the PCRC. Olaniyan emphasized that the gesture is part of their commitment to boosting morale, fostering partnership, and acknowledging the dedication of police officers. He announced plans to distribute over 6,000 packages to police families, reinforcing the PCRC’s commitment to supporting the police community.
