Abuja: Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has assured Nigerians of the President’s readiness to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects. The Information Minister stated this at the inspection of the over N180 billion Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja road, which is currently under construction. The road, which traverses Enugu, Ebonyi, and Cross River states, is a federal project being executed by the President Bola Tinubu administration.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the Minister visited the Nkalagu section of the road, where he was briefed by the project manager on the progress of the work. Idris emphasized the President’s directive to remove all obstacles to ensure the roads are completed in good time for the benefit of the people of Nigeria, especially those in the southeast. He highlighted the importance of the road in connecting Enugu State, Ebonyi State, and Cross River State, stating that it is a major project under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration aimed at ensuring connectivity in the southeastern region.
The project manager, Busari Yusuf, elaborated on the progress made so far. He explained that the project spans about 88 kilometers, with both dual and single carriage sections, valued at 183 billion Naira. Various stages of construction are underway, including rehabilitation and paving with stone base, awaiting optimal moisture content before proceeding with rigid pavement. In other sections, drainage and headwork are ongoing.
The delegation also visited Izamgbo, approximately 50km to Abakaliki, where the dualization of the road has been completed. A resident, Solomon Nwanko, expressed to Voice of Nigeria the community’s elation at the progress. He conveyed hope that the completed road would reduce the frequent accidents occurring around that section.
