Abuja: As defence minister Christopher Musa’s recent interview continues to stir public interest, Mr. Victor Bobai, media aide to Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State, has issued a caution against criticisms that could distract the minister from his duties. Bobai emphasized the importance of allowing Musa to focus on his crucial task of addressing insurgency, banditry, and other crimes affecting the nation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Bobai expressed in an interview that Musa’s comments, which covered various topics such as politics, security, and the upcoming 2027 elections, should be seen in context. Musa had commended Gov. Sani’s efforts to foster peace and unity in Kaduna State, contrasting them with those of his predecessor. While Musa’s remarks have resulted in mixed reactions, Bobai believes they reflect the minister’s willingness to engage in open dialogue about sensitive issues.
Bobai, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Governor, urged Nigerians to support Musa in maintaining his professional focus. He highlighted the minister’s personal views, encouraging the public to differentiate between his military authority and his individual opinions as a retired military officer now serving in a civilian role.
Further, Bobai stressed the importance of not reducing Musa’s extensive military service to one interview. He pointed to Musa’s career, including his leadership roles and current position as Minister of Defence, as a testament to his dedication to national service. Bobai called for an appreciation of experienced voices within the democratic framework, emphasizing that honest discourse should not be punished.
In addressing concerns about political neutrality, Bobai urged for evidence-based discussions rather than personal attacks. He advocated for a focus on the substance of Musa’s statements, rather than dismissing them based on his background or political affiliations. Bobai also called for a return to original sources of information, cautioning against relying solely on edited social media content.
