Lafia:The Jennifer Etuh Foundation (JEF) has provided support to approximately 1,000 widows in Nasarawa State by distributing cash, wrappers, and food items to alleviate their hardships.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Programme Manager of JEF, Mr. Joe Otu, disclosed this during the foundation’s widows’ outreach event held at the Peace House Tent in Lafia. The outreach is part of the foundation’s efforts to support vulnerable women and commemorate the first anniversary of the deaths of two foundation team members, Mr. Josiah Musa and Mr. Alfred Arome, who passed away in 2025. Both were dedicated members of the foundation’s evangelical team and participated actively in its medical outreaches.
The foundation has extended its activities to Nasarawa State in honor of the deceased members, who had worked in the state and wished for similar interventions to benefit their communities. The widows’ outreach marks the beginning of the foundation’s activities in Nasarawa, followed by a five-day free medical outreach for residents.
JEF focuses on women and the girl-child, especially in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. The foundation operates six hospitals across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, primarily in hard-to-reach communities, providing healthcare services to underserved populations.
Mr. Otu stated that the beneficiaries came from various communities and local government areas across Nasarawa State. The foundation plans to reach 1,000 widows through this initiative. The upcoming free medical outreach, held at the Specialist Hospital in Akwanga, will involve nearly 80 medical volunteers offering general and specialized medical care, surgeries, dental services, and eye care, with a focus on conditions like cataracts and fibroids.
Collaborating with Pro-Health International, Peace House Mission, and the Nasarawa Government, the foundation aims to provide medical assistance to between 3,000 and 3,500 people. Pastor Elisha Kure, during a sermon at the event, encouraged the widows to remain strong in their faith, citing Psalm 685, which describes God as a defender of widows.
Mrs. Rita Arome, widow of one of the deceased team members, expressed her gratitude for the outreach, noting that it honors the lives and service of her husband and Mr. Musa. She appreciated the foundation’s effort in bringing relief and encouragement to the widows.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Patience Dauda-Osah, expressed her thanks, stating that the gesture reassured widows of their remembered status. Having lost her husband in September 2025, she prayed for the foundation to continue and expand its humanitarian activities.
