Post: Jonah Jang Denies Urging Governor Mutfwang to Resign After Political Defection

Abuja: Former Governor of Plateau, Sen. Jonah Jang, has refuted claims that he requested Gov. Caleb Mutfwang to resign following his switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Jang made this clarification in a statement released in Abuja by his Media Aide, Mr. Clinton Garuba. The statement labeled the media reports as misleading and inaccurate, asserting that Jang’s comments at a recent PDP stakeholders’ meeting were misrepresented.

The statement emphasized that Jang’s attention had been drawn to a misleading report in various print and online media outlets. The report erroneously suggested that he called for Gov. Mutfwang’s resignation in light of his political defection. Jang clarified that his remarks were quoted out of context, and at no point during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did he urge Gov. Mutfwang to step down.

Instead, Jang criticized the broader trend of politicians switching parties, highlighting his disapproval of such actions.
