Idah: The traditional institution of Achadu Oko Attah conferred the title of Ogah-Achadu Oko Attah on Kogi Deputy Governor, Mr. Joel Salifu, during a ceremony held at the palace of the traditional ruler, Alih Yusuf Ameh Adaji III, in Idah. This event was part of the activities commemorating the Achadu’s third anniversary.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the ceremony drew political leaders, party supporters, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and well-wishers from across Kogi. Salifu was formally bestowed with the title and honored with the salutation ‘Dooga!’ by Achadu Oko Attah and his clan. This recognition was attributed to Salifu’s contributions to his people and his dedication to the development of the clan and Kogi.
The Achadu Oko Attah expressed that the conferment was a mark of appreciation, reflecting the clan’s pride in Salifu as a distinguished son of Igala land. In response, Salifu conveyed his gratitude to the traditional institution, his clan, family, friends, and supporters for bestowing the honor upon him. He vowed to continue working towards fostering peace, unity, and development among the people.
The deputy governor acknowledged the support of Gov. Ahmed Ododo, attributing his principal’s confidence as a catalyst for greater recognition and service. Salifu also mentioned receiving the Best Deputy Governor Award for 2025 in Nigeria at an event in Abuja on January 29. He expressed appreciation for former Governor Yahaya Bello, whom he credited as the architect of his political journey.
Despite the challenges posed by heavy rainfall and short notice, Salifu expressed gratitude for the large turnout at the ceremony. He emphasized his commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda at the grassroots level, noting, “By the special grace of God, I have a governor with listening ears who is ready to deliver the dividends of democracy. I am also ready.”
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including former Deputy Governor Edward Onoja, and National Leader of Ukomu Igala Organisation, retired Maj.-Gen. James Ataguba, along with other prominent Igala sons and daughters, government officials, and traditional rulers.
