Post: Lagos Pledges Continued Collaboration with NYSC to Deliver Greater Dividends


Lagos: The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to exploring collaborative opportunities with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to enhance the benefits derived from the scheme. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized this commitment at the commencement of the orientation course for the 2026 Batch A, Stream Two corps members deployed to Lagos. The event was held at the NYSC temporary orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende. He highlighted the importance of the national service and the selfless contributions made by past corps members in sectors such as health, education, and social services. He urged the new batch of corps members to adhere to camp rules and regulations, emphasizing that the foundation laid during the orientation course is vital for a successful service year.



The Lagos State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, stated that the orientation course is designed to equip corps members with the necessary skills and values for their service. She noted that the three-week orientation is a statutory requirement that demands discipline and commitment. Salmwang also highlighted recent improvements at the camp, including renovated hostels, upgraded sanitation facilities, and a refurbished multipurpose hall, all aimed at providing a safer and more conducive environment.



Salmwang commended the Lagos State Government under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership for its unwavering support, which underscores the state’s commitment to youth development and the NYSC scheme’s continued success in Lagos. She encouraged corps members to participate actively in all camp activities, respect diversity, build meaningful relationships, and use their service year to contribute positively to national development.



The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that the corps members took an oath of allegiance administered by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, represented by Justice Akingbola George.
