Lagos: The Lagos State Government has announced its aim to secure approximately N4 trillion in local and foreign direct investment inflows through the third edition of its central investment forum, Invest Lagos 3.0. Speaking at a news conference in Lagos, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, highlighted the summit as a significant platform for investment mobilization and strategic alliances.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the summit, themed ‘Lagos: Business Gateway to Africa,’ is anticipated to attract over 1,000 delegates, including institutional investors, development partners, and private sector participants. The event is organized in collaboration with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) and private sector stakeholders.
Scheduled for June 8 and June 9 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, the two-day summit will feature keynote sessions, executive roundtables, exhibitions, and investment matchmaking meetings. The summit aims to showcase key sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, technology, tourism, logistics, financial services, and energy transition.
Ambrose-Medebem emphasized Lagos’ strategic position for investment due to its population size, expanding infrastructure, and innovation ecosystem. “Lagos sits at the center of Africa’s economic story with expanding infrastructure, a vibrant innovation ecosystem, growing industrial capacity, and one of the busiest seaports on the continent,” she stated.
The summit is expected to deepen global investment engagement and bolster Lagos’ standing as Africa’s leading business gateway. Mr. Sam Egube, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and Co-Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, noted that more than 29 global speakers have confirmed their participation, with a focus on converting investment discussions into tangible outcomes across various sectors including technology, healthcare, transportation, energy, environment, and the creative economy.
Ms. Toyosi Akerele, Co-chairman of the summit’s Technical Committee, shared that over 400 foreign delegates would tour major projects such as the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery, Lekki Deep Sea Port, and rail infrastructure projects. “This is an opportunity to showcase Lagos as a modern, connected, and future-forward smart city,” she said.
A prominent feature of the summit is the Governors’ Investment Showcase, intended to connect state governments with global investors, development institutions, and business leaders. The organizers highlighted that the summit would also emphasize youth entrepreneurship, Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SME) participation, and technology-driven engagement.
The state government expects the summit to drive new investments, foster strategic partnerships, create jobs, and promote broader economic inclusion across key sectors. Key dignitaries expected at the summit include the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry Trade and Investment.
