Lagos: The Lagos State Government has hosted the 5th edition of the annual Food Festival to foster growth across the various food spaces and the entire agro value chain. The event, organized by the State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, took place at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island Lagos on Sunday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the event saw participation from food vendors and caterers across the Lagos agricultural landscape. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lauded the ministry’s efforts in ensuring the prosperity of those within the agriculture sector. Sanwo-Olu highlighted the ministry’s numerous initiatives in food security and entrepreneur empowerment, providing innovators and aggregators in the food business opportunities to thrive.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed that the festival serves as a platform for families to enjoy and explore various food cultures and culinary arts. He stated, “Through the festival, we are encouraging people in the catering and food space. Food is one in which you can show your arts, you can show your skill, and we’re doing it on a budget and opening opportunities for a lot of young talents.”
The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, emphasized the festival’s purpose of creating avenues for stakeholders across the food space. She noted that the festival, “Taste Without Borders 2025,” marks the fifth year since the event evolved from the Lagos Seafood Festival, celebrating Lagos’s diverse culinary culture and traditions.
Olusanya further explained that the festival provides exposure for culinary practitioners, restauranteurs, hoteliers, and caterers, allowing them to network, solidify, and expand their businesses. She remarked, “We have had many stars made from the Lagos Food Festival, with the governor cooking, tasting their foods, and giving a word of encouragement.”
