Ibadan: Rep. Remi Oseni (APC), representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency of Oyo State, has advised Nigerians not to see enemies around them, but rather magnify love for peace to thrive in the country. Oseni gave the advice at a Ramadan lecture organised by Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), Muslim Wing, in Ibadan.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, ‘Love’ was the theme of the lecture. The member of the House of Representatives said as Nigerians, the only thing that should unite us and promote peace and harmony in Nigeria is love. He emphasized that a person currently considered an enemy could become a friend in the future and be of assistance.
Oseni remarked that leaders should not label anyone as an enemy or wicked, pointing out that those perceived as adversaries might have their own time of utility. He cited scripture, noting that God created even the wicked for the day of adversity.
He urged Nigerians to embrace love for the country’s progress, peace, and harmony, adding that love should be a personal principle and a unifying force.
In his lecture, Alhaji Basit Bello (Aponle Anabi), an Islamic cleric, encouraged Nigerians to appreciate one another and adopt love as a guiding principle. He called on politicians to prioritize the interest of the masses and urged citizens to reciprocate love toward their leaders.
Bello identified a lack of love as a contributing factor to issues like kidnapping, killing, and insecurity in Nigeria. He stressed that without love, progress, unity, and harmony are unattainable.
