Karu: A businessman, Abibu Yakubu, has initiated legal proceedings against his ex-wife at the Upper Area Court 1, Karu, citing her alleged refusal to vacate his residence following their divorce. Yakubu is also seeking custody of their four children as part of the legal action.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Yakubu filed the case against his estranged wife, Shuwadatu Mohammed, on October 13, 2025. The details of the claim reveal that both Yakubu and Mohammed reside at the same address in Orange Market, Mararaba, Karu LGA. Yakubu alleges that his ex-wife has shown disrespect towards him and his parents, frequently insulting them.
The couple’s marriage, which ended approximately five years ago, produced four children, aged 22, 19, and 6-year-old twins. Yakubu contends that despite the divorce, Mohammed has refused to leave his home, allegedly stating her intent to remain until she causes him harm. He further claims that her continued occupation of his house has resulted in threats to his life, leaving him in constant fear for his safety.
Yakubu has petitioned the court to hold Mohammed accountable should any harm befall him. Additionally, he has requested the court to formally redissolve the marriage and grant him custody of the children.
