Katsina: Mangal Foundation has initiated a free surgical program for more than 700 patients requiring hernia and hydrocele operations. The foundation screened over 1,000 individuals for medical assistance, with a significant number set to receive surgeries at the General Hospital, Katsina. This initiative aims to enhance access to specialized surgical care for vulnerable residents.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Hassan Kabir, a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, announced the commencement of the program during its inauguration. He noted that the quarterly medical outreach is part of the foundation’s strategy to support healthcare delivery in Katsina State. While some individuals received only medication, those needing surgical intervention were enrolled for the necessary treatment.
Kabir revealed that on the first day, 150 children were slated for surgery, with operations set to continue throughout the week to accommodate all beneficiaries. The program provides free surgeries, medications, and post-operative care items to men, women, and children. The foundation has deployed qualified medical personnel to ensure high-quality treatment and care.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, with Jamila Abdullahi, who underwent surgery, appreciating the foundation’s efforts. Khadija Rafukka, whose son benefited from the program, commended the foundation’s provision of free medical services and prayed for continued support from Alhaji Dahiru Barau-Mangal, the foundation’s chairman.
The initiative has been praised by other beneficiaries and their families for alleviating the financial burden of medical treatment. Malam Labaran Amadu, whose son is among the beneficiaries, lauded Mangal’s philanthropic efforts and encouraged others in the community to invest in similar welfare programs.
