Lagos: The Medserve-LUTH Cancer Centre (MLCC) has been named the ‘Most Outstanding Oncology Centre in Nigeria’ for the fourth consecutive year.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the hospital announced in a statement on Sunday that the award was bestowed at the 12th Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) on June 26, 2026. This consecutive win strengthens MLCC’s standing as a leading institution for advanced and life-saving cancer care in the region.
As the largest and best-equipped cancer treatment facility in West Africa, the MLCC effectively combines advanced technology with clinical expertise. Situated within the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba, Lagos, the centre offers specialised, multidisciplinary outpatient care, eliminating the need for medical tourism abroad.

Since its inception, the Medserve-LUTH Cancer Centre has changed the oncology care landscape in West Africa by providing a comprehensive approach to radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and supportive therapies. The four-year streak of national recognition confirms that the centre’s model of unified, multidisciplinary care is reshaping the future of cancer survivorship across the region.
Organised by Global Health Project and Resources in collaboration with the Anadach Group, the award event gathered key stakeholders from Nigeria’s health sector. The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, was the Special Guest of Honour, while the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, served as the Chief Host.
Dr Muhammed Habeebu, the Chief Clinical Coordinator of the Medserve-LUTH Cancer Centre, accepted the award on behalf of the C
entre. This recognition further cements LUTH’s status as a premier tertiary healthcare institution dedicated to excellence in specialised healthcare delivery, research, innovation, and patient-centred care.
The success of the centre is attributed to the collaborative efforts between LUTH and Medserve, transforming cancer care not only in Nigeria but across West Africa. This achievement also mirrors the Federal Government of Nigeria’s commitment, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to provide quality healthcare to Nigerians.
