Post: Moniepoint Denies Involvement in Arrests Over Customer Criticism

Lagos: Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has clarified that it is not involved in any arrests or detentions of individuals related to criticism of its services, affirming its respect for customers’ rights to provide feedback and express opinions. Mr. Bemigho Awala, the bank’s Public and Media Relations Manager, made this statement while addressing newsmen in Lagos.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Awala emphasized that the institution neither initiated nor requested any arrests for criticism against its services. He stated, “I would like to reiterate that Moniepoint did not arrest, detain or request the arrest of anyone for criticising its services.” The bank acknowledges the importance of customer feedback and regularly conducts Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveys to enhance its offerings.

Awala noted that feedback is integral to their operations and has spurred the development of new products tailored to customer demand. Recently, Moniepoint reported certain unusual activities to law enforcement, leading to investigations. These matters are currently under judicial review, and the bank is adhering to legal procedures.

The spokesperson reassured that the bank is committed to resolving public concerns by engaging with customers and enhancing service delivery. “Our focus remains creating financial happiness for the millions of individuals and businesses who rely on us daily. Their trust is our priority,” Awala stated, reiterating the company’s dedication to integrity and transparency.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that the Nigeria Police Force had charged two individuals under the country’s cybercrime laws, linked to alleged online activities concerning Moniepoint. This case has sparked public interest and broader discussions on customer experiences and service standards in the financial sector.
