Lagos: Mr Haruna Aruwe, the Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos State, inaugurated 10 newly constructed roads in the area on Wednesday. According to News Agency of Nigeria, the roads that have been inaugurated include Alasalatu, Mosalashi, Cash, Akingbola, Ibiosi, Alvis, Tadeyo, Jumoke, Oloje, and Garba.
During the inauguration, Aruwe emphasized his administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure and enhancing connectivity within the community. He expressed gratitude to the residents for their support and reiterated his commitment to executing more road projects across Mushin. The chairman urged residents to utilize the roads responsibly and protect the infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of community ownership in preserving these facilities for future generations.
Aruwe highlighted that the road construction efforts are part of wider initiatives to ensure that residents benefit from democratic dividends. He encouraged residents to make good use of the roads, stating that future projects will focus on other areas as promised to connect the Mushin community more effectively.
Sen. Ganiyu Solomon, a former Senator representing Lagos West, also spoke at the event, commending Aruwe for the projects and noting the positive impact they would have on social and economic activities in Mushin. Solomon indicated that the new roads would improve accessibility within the community and incentivize transporters to use the routes, thereby enhancing residents’ livelihoods.
The former senator urged residents to protect the roads and streetlights from vandalism and to prevent roadside mechanics from converting the roads into workshops. Alhaja Tawakalitu Balogun, a member of the Community Development Association in the Amu area of Mushin, expressed appreciation for the road construction. She remarked that the new infrastructure would significantly boost social and economic activities within the community and affirmed the CDA’s commitment to maintaining the facilities.
