Lagos: Ms Rukayat Abu, a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent, has won the 2025 Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Media Personality Award. The President of MAN, Chief Francis Meshioye, announced this at the 10th edition of the MAN Media Personality of the Year Award Ceremony and 2026 Presidential Luncheon.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Meshioye praised Abu for her in-depth reportage in 2025, noting that her work reflected dedication and a deep understanding of Nigeria’s industrial landscape. He stated that Abu emerged as the winner in the online media category, bringing pride to NAN. Meshioye highlighted that the MAN Media Award initiative was conceived a decade ago to enhance collaboration between the media and the association, while celebrating impactful journalism.
Meshioye emphasized the media’s role in achieving manufacturers’ goals, noting its impact on amplifying advocacy, examining policies, and highlighting the realities of Nigerian manufacturers. He acknowledged the media’s contribution to promoting Made-in-Nigeria products and influencing government policies.
Ms Nkechinyere Mba, General Manager, Corporate Services Division, MAN, encouraged reporters to continue their journalism efforts as the association plans its 2026 activities. Mba noted that the MAN media award provided a platform to evaluate media reportage quality and recognize outstanding journalists. She commended the media for their work in spotlighting MAN and manufacturing activities.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that while Abu emerged as the winner in the online media category, Mr Tony Nwakaegho of Gentech News was the first runner-up. In the print newspaper category, Mr Yinka Kolawole of Vanguard won, with Mr Arinze Nwafor of The Punch as the first runner-up. In the television category, Ms Ini John-Mekwa of Channels Television won, while Mr Abiola Ismail of MITV was the first runner-up. In the radio category, Mrs Ebere Obike-Franklin of Radio Nigeria won, and Mrs Sherifat Ajoke of Bond FM 92.9 was the first runner-up. In the photojournalism category, Mr Temitope Aina of Daily Sun won, with Mr Akeem Salau of Vanguard as the first runner-up.
