Post: NAN Proposes Strategic Partnership with Lagos State Youth Ministry

Lagos: The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has proposed a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development to amplify youth-focused initiatives and enhance public communication. The Managing Editor and Head of NAN Lagos Operations, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, made the proposal during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, in Lagos.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Omowole emphasized the agency’s commitment to meaningful collaboration, aiming to promote impactful youth development efforts across the state. She highlighted NAN’s extensive national and international platform reach, including representation at global events such as United Nations summits. The agency’s proposal seeks to showcase not only the ministry’s programmes but also the commissioner’s leadership in the context of emerging opportunities for broader national impact.

Omowole outlined that NAN’s partnership offer includes media coverage, content distribution, and capacity-building opportunities for young people in communication and storytelling. ‘We are not just offering media visibility but also skills development support for young people, while providing a platform to project the ministry’s work to a wider audience,’ she stated. She also noted that NAN’s platforms, including its PR wire services, ensure seamless dissemination of information nationwide.

Responding, Commissioner Ogunlende expressed readiness to collaborate, recognizing the critical role of effective communication in bridging the gap between government and young people. He remarked that such partnerships would help amplify the ministry’s work and better inform young people. Ogunlende described the proposed partnership as a ‘win-win’ arrangement benefiting both the ministry and NAN.

The commissioner reiterated his commitment to an open-door policy for direct engagement with young people and promptly addressing their concerns. He accepted NAN’s invitation for a follow-up visit and requested a formal proposal for further deliberation with the ministry’s management team. Additionally, he expressed interest in integrating NAN’s communication and capacity-building offerings into the ministry’s youth development programmes. Ogunlende commended NAN for its contributions to information dissemination and expressed optimism about a mutually beneficial relationship.
